Under Graduate Courses
The three-year undergraduate course in Jainism is now being introduced in English.
This will be an entirely online home study course
The final examinations also will be conducted online.
All Jain/Non-Jains can enrol for this course.
After the successful completion of each subsequent year of study, the student will be granted a certificate of ‘Samyak Gnan Praveshshika’ ( FYBJ),Samyak Gnan Parichay’ (SYBJ) and ‘Samyak Gnan Visharad’ ( BJ) respectively. On successful completion of the third year, The students will be honoured with the ‘Bachelor of Jainism’ degree.
You can register and enrol online by filling up the form and making a payment of ₹.1000/- only per year .
Anyone residing anywhere can undertake these courses.
The course material will be uploaded on our website. The academic year shall be from June to May each year. from June to March, for each month, chapter wise study-material along with the unit test question paper will be uploaded on our website . Students have to email us the duly filled answer papers , one every month . Detailed instructions will be given in due course. The final examination will be conducted in April every year. ( This year , because of the ongoing situation , the course will commence later )
It is absolutely essential that the students should submit the question papers (duly filled with answers) at the earliest. 20% of the marks obtained in each of theunit tests will be added to the score of the annual exams.
The minimum passing percentage of marks for each one of the exams is 35%.
Grades will be determined on the basis of the marks obtained in the final exam as follows:
70% and above – Distinction
60% and above – First class
45% and above – Second class
35% and above – Third class.
The annual examination paper will carry 80 marks and will be of two hours in duration.
Meritorious students will be awarded with medals and certificates.

Masters Courses
Master of Jainism is a two year study course
This is an entirely online home-study course
Only a ‘Samyak Gnan Visharad’ or a Bachelor of Jainism is eligible to enrol for the Master of Jainism course
Master of Jainism Study course has two parts: MJ Part 1 and MJ Part 2
The syllabus for MJ Part 1 comprises of part 1 of Vachakpravar Umaswati’s ‘Tatvarthasutra’ (chapters 1 to5)
Students will have to appear for two open book exams conducted in October and March respectively.
For each of the open book exams the students will have to write, along with the examination paper, a 15 to 20 page (full scape) long thesis on any of the given topics.
A final exam will be conducted at the end of each year.
Though the marks of the above exams will not be added to the score of the final exams, it is mandatory for the students to appear for these exams.
To obtain admission to MJ Part 2, it is mandatory for students to first clear MJ Part 1.
The syllabus for MJ Part 2 comprises of part 2 of Vachakpravar Umaswati’s ‘Tatvarthasutra’ (chapters 6to10).
The exam rules for MJ Part 2 are similar to those for MJ part one
Doctorate in Jainism (DJ/ Vidya Vachaspati)(English course)
The eligibility for admissions to Doctorate for Jainism (DJ/Vidya Vachaspati is a minimum score of 85% in Master of Jainism Part 2
Besides, a desirous candidate will have to appear for an entrance exam paper of hundred marks. This paper will be based on the syllabi of the Bachelor of Jainism and the Master of Jainism courses undertaken during the previous five years. Wrong answers will carry negative marks which will be deducted from the score to arrive at the final result.
The paper will be of a duration of half an hour and will comprise of ‘True/False’ or ‘Tick the right option’ type of questions.
After this, the candidate will have to appear for a half an hour long exam paper set by Param Pujya Dr. Jaydarshitashriji Maharaj Saheb herself.
The candidate will have to appear for this exam in the presence of Param Pujya Maharajsaheb, wherever she is dwelling during the ‘chaturmaas’. The DJ applicants will be informed about the date and time of this examination telephonically.
Maximum two toppers in each category (2 Shravak/shravikas and 2 Sadhu/Sadhvis) of the successful candidates; Who score more than or equal to 90% marks in this exam will be granted the admission to Doctorate in Jainism (DJ).
Instructions for students of Doctorate in Jainism (DJ/ Vidya Vachaspati)
Only 2+2 seats are available for admissions to Doctorate in Jainism (DJ/Vidya Vachaspati)
It is a three year course during which the candidate will have to study 300 to 500 books. The students will have to procure these reference materials themselves.
The candidates will have to undertake the entire study themselves under the general direction of the reader/guide.
The candidates’ original contribution is a must for the acceptance of the 300 to 350 pages long thesis. It is important that the candidates highlight the benefit which their doctoral work will render in the present times.
Every principle that is laid down needs to be substantiated with evidence from ‘Aagams’ or at least 1000-year old works of ‘Purvacharyas’.
The thesis should be typed/ printed on single-sided paper. The first page of the thesis should be a title page indicating in golden letters:
The full title of the thesis, the student’s full name and the year of submission.
• Minimum four copies of the thesis need to be submitted to the academy. One of these copies must be hard bound while the remaining three maybe in ordinary binding. Besides this, candidates must keep one copy for themselves.
After the submission of the thesis, a viva (Oral exam) by both an internal and an external examiner would be conducted.
The results will be will conveyed to the candidates within a week after the viva. Two outcomes are possible: a) If found to be incomplete or to be having errors, the thesis may be ‘referred for resubmission’. In this case the thesis maybe resubmitted after corrections. b) It may be ‘failed without the right for resubmission’.
The fee structure for the Doctorate in Jainism/Vidya Vācaspati is as follows:
(A) ₹ 7000/– at the time of enrolment and
(B) ₹ 5000/– at the time of submission of the thesis.
